"Explore Gorongosa" Hosts the First Walking Safari in Gorongosa

Parque Nacional da Gorongosa's first private tourism initiative - Explore Gorongosa - recently hosted their first guests at their luxury tented camp situated on the banks of the Rio Mussicadzi within the Park.  Operated by One Africa, who specialise in inspiring unique safari experiences, the focus of Explore Gorongosa is to introduce guests to the wonders of the Gorongosa National Park, with walking safaris and game drives (both day and night) led by a top regional guide.  

Tim & Charlene Tombar from Houston, Texas, were the first to enjoy the exclusive Explore Gorongosa experience as part of their honeymoon last week.  Whilst on safari they enjoyed an exclusive visit to Gorongosa’s Wildlife Sanctuary as well as a walk to the nearby village of Vinho.  They were also privileged to be part of the initial blessing ceremony for the initiative, carried out by the regulo of Chitengo.  Through a number of drives and a couple of really interesting guided bush walks, the Tombars saw much of Gorongosa’s resurgent wildlife, and although they just missed the large male lion on their final morning they did hear him roaring all night around camp!
