President Guebuza visited Gorongosa National Park on Tuesday and stayed overnight in one of the new luxury chalets. He is the first guest to ever stay in the newly constructed overnight accommodation.
The President went on a 3-hour safari game drive in the Park, passing fever tree and palm tree forests, and crossing through savannah and salt pans. He was driven and guided by Baldeu Chande as they saw herds of waterbuck, impala and nyala, as well as fish eagles and marabou storks. Governor Vaquina was also part of the adventure.
President Guebuza was kind to take time to have lunch with the management team of the Park where he was briefed on progress in restoring the Park. The team explained the animal reintroduction program, the sustainable agriculture program, and the park’s tree planting program on Mount Gorongosa.
