The esteemed Portuguese singer, composer and guitarist, Rui Veloso, was in Gorongosa National Park (GNP) for three days recording a television advertisement for a Portuguese financial institution.
The 52-year-old musician is considered by many as the Father of Portuguese Rock. He was chosen to be at the center of a new advertising campaign of a well-known Portuguese bank to promote a financial product.
The singer, a celebrity in Portugal only comparable with the fado legend Amália Rodrigues, has already recorded part of the scenes of the commercial in the village of Vinho while living together with members of the community and doing a safari, seeing animals in their natural habitat inside GNP. The final scenes were recorded with a spectacular sunset in the region of Bué-Maria.

The author of diverse songs that form part of the memories of a large number of Portuguese citizens, for example, " Porto Côvo, Não Há Estrelas No Céu, and Chico Fininho", among other successes, chose Gorongosa because the local population speak Portuguese and identifies with Portuguese culture. Furthermore, it constituted a form of helping to promote and reveal the potentialities of GNP.

The publicity goes on the air this September placed in the main television channels of TVI, RTP and SIC, showing everything that Rui Veloso still wants to do in his life, for example, getting to know the African plains. He had never had this opportunity and thanks to the financial institution and an innovative financial product he finally was able to achieve this and other dreams.
The 30-second advertisement was directed by Fofi and was executively produced by Carlos Amaral of the Portuguese media production company, Miss Dolores, and it is going to promote the product and reinforce the positioning of the banking institution, that we can’t disclose at this stage.
