Chris Matthews, a well-know American journalist and political commentator, was in Chitengo, a tourist camp at Gorongosa National Park. He spent a few days on holiday in this jewel of the African bush.
He had heard of GNP in the past few months through the media, so he chose this place as a new destination to enjoy and rest from work this year, 2009, along with his wife.

He spent his holidays in the magnificent Gorongosa with direct contact with the local population, its uses and customs, as well as with nature itself, characterized by an excellent, welcoming environment.
In a comment written in the GNP Visitor Book, the honored tourist wrote that he, Chris Matthews, and his wife, Kathleen Matthews, were very impressed with the beauty and diversity of Gorongosa and all the work that is being done to restore this Jewel of Africa.
In addition, the Matthews couple said that it very much appreciated the camaraderie of the team of conservationists, operators and local community.
To finish, he praised it, writing, “I am strongly impressed with the great work of the Carr Foundation here in Gorongosa Park to help many great marvels of Africa come back to life.”
Chris Matthews is presently a well-known presenter on television and American political commentary programs. He gained notoriety and fans through talk shows on the cable channel, MSNBC.
