GNP now accepting Domestic and International Tender applications for Tourism Opportunities within Park boundaries.

Gorongosa National Park today announced the opening of a Domestic Public Tender and an International Public Tender for tourism opportunities within the Park boundaries.

Interested parties should contact Park Management for details and are encouraged to visit the Park within the coming 75 days to evaluate the various areas to be opened to tourism operators.

Applications are due by October 1, 2009.

A committee of six individuals (all Mozambican nationals), representing a variety of professional disciplines, shall meet on October 15th to evaluate the applications.

Independent observers shall be invited to the session.

The applications shall be assessed according to the following attributes: financial resources; ecotourism experience and marketing capability; commitment to local communities; and “green” business practices.

The committee reserves the right to hold additional meetings in 2009 and 2010 and accept additional applications beyond the initial deadline if all tourism opportunities are not matched with qualified applicants at the October 15, 2009 meeting.
