GNP workers train in Environmental Business Management

Days ago, workers of Gorongosa National Park (GNP), including collaborators, technicians, supervisors, coordinators and managers, participated in a half-day training action about Environmental Business Management in Chitengo. 

The course, organized by the Environmental and Health Impact Evaluation Sector, subordinate to the GNP Department of Conservation, aimed at endowing the participants with notions that inspire a wider conscience and environmental responsibility in the productive area and adoption of a natural resources exploration model that attends the needs of the present without compromising future generations. 

The training of the people in this domain is one of the primary strategic measures with an aim to minimize environmental impact because man is one of the main responsible parties in the alteration of the Environment’s physical properties, biological chemicals and more attacking, consequently, public health, security, quality of life index and welfare of the population, economic activities, and aesthetic and sanitary conditions.  Human beings permanently pollute the Environment because of material and energy consequent of their daily activities.

Several subjects were covered during this training action, namely the history of the environmental debate, the "green" consumer” and sustainable development, the elements of environmental business management, and tips for sustainable consumption, among other topics.

Equally reviewed were general aspects of Mozambican environmental legislation. 

The moderator of the course, the manager of Environmental Impact Evaluation and Health, Edgar Faduco, positively evaluated the results of the training.  According to him, "the objectives for which the training activity was organized were satisfactorily achieved ". 

Environmental Business Management refers to an assembly of policies, administrative and operational programs and practices that take into account the health and security of people, the protection of the environment through the elimination or minimization of impacts and environmental damage resulting from the planning, implementation, operation, enlargement, reallocation or override of assets or activities including all the phases of the cycle of life of a product.
