Gorongosa National Park (GNP) in coordination with the Department of Tourism (MITUR) and National Institute of Tourism (INATUR) presented, this past 14 December in the city of Maputo, the world preview screening of the film "Gorongosa National Park: Africa' s Lost Eden."
The event took place at 6 pm in the Joaquim Chissano Conference Center and was honored with the presence of the President of the Republic, Armando Guebuza, several members of the Government, members of senior staff of MITUR and INATUR, managers and collaborators of GNP, diplomatic representations, NGOs, tour operators and agents, among others.
The 50-minute film, produced by North American television channel, National Geographic, shows some of the different ecosystems as well as the wildlife of the Park, observed in different periods of the year.
The feature film shows extraordinary images of the grasslands sprinkled by areas of acacia trees, the savanna with lagoons seasonally filled by rains and mounds raised by termites, plateaus with miombo trees and mountainous forests. It also illustrates a variety of herbivores, carnivores, reptiles and species of exotic birds- an array of the biodiversity that will leave the development support in total apotheosis.
"Africa' s Lost Eden" will begin to be exhibited on televisions around the world from February of 2010 and subsequently, the DVD format documentary will be for sale to the public at a not yet published price.
James Byrne produced the film, counting on the camera operation of Bob Poole, Andy Casagrande, Tim Wege and others. The filming happened between January of 2008 and May 2009.
The direction of the Park hopes that with the disclosure of the film in the next year the promotion of the image of the conservation area on an international level will be able to imply a greater flow of tourists captivated by the diversity of the wildlife and of the hidden mythical landscapes in one of the most important treasures of the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean" - Mozambique.
For now, the reception of the promotional extract of the film on the part of the national and international Tour Operators and Agents has been enthusiastic.
