Just outside the Park’s main entrance, Nhambita is bordered to the south by the Pungue River and to the west by the Vunduzi River. Many tourists visit Bué Maria, the community’s most scenic spot, to watch the sun rise over the Pungue River.
The people of the Nhambita community farm, raise livestock, and fish in the Pungue and Vunduzi Rivers. Many are also employed through a carbon credits program located in their community.

Hot Spring and Spa
We are working with the Nhambita community to help plan and develop a spa at the hot spring that will be run and staffed by community members. We plan to support the spa with start-up capital and management training. Because it will be locally-owned and operated, one hundred percent of the profits will go to the community.
