Education

We have two basic education objectives: To improve the local education system so children will have more opportunities in life; and to teach local people the economic benefits of environmental conservation so they will be willing and able to help us protect the Park and Sustainable Development Zone (Buffer Zone).

Basic Education
We are helping local communities build better schools, develop better curricula, and hire and train better teachers. We recently helped the village of Vinho build a new school and we are setting up computer labs in Chitengo Safari Camp, Vila Gorongosa, and Vinho where kids can use fun, interactive programs to learn basic computer skills.

Conservation Education
We are establishing a conservation education program that will teach the economic benefits of conserving the area’s magnificent natural resources. We invite community leaders to visit the Park, stressing the value of conservation and sustainable development, with the hope that they will become advocates for the restoration project and influence land-use practices in their communities. We are also building a Conservation Education Center in the Park where local children and community members can come to learn about conservation.
