Gorongosa National Park has a dedicated team of rangers who enforce Park laws and provide assistance to visitors. These individuals receive comprehensive initial training in anti-poaching techniques and wildfire management and they also have the opportunity to obtain advanced training in various courses throughout their careers. Organized in four-man units, they are assigned to remote areas of the Park or based near Park infrastructure. Their duties include:null

  • Stopping illegal hunting 
  • Collecting traps set by poachers
  • Protecting visitor safety
  • Controlling fires
  • Stopping illegal fishing
