Carr Foundation teams up with Mozambican government to begin long-term restoration of Gorongosa National Park.

Completion of fenced sanctuary for temporary holding of wildlife relocated to Park. 

2006

 

January

First historic meeting with the leaders of the Canda community to discuss the sustainable development projects on Mount Gorongosa.

USAID and Carr Foundation sign an MOU for the restoration of Gorongosa National Park.

First payment to Canda community for guiding tourists up Mount Gorongosa.

First tourists stay overnight on Mount Gorongosa’s Gogogo peak. More>
