We welcome inquiries from tourism operators interested in doing business in Gorongosa National Park and Sustainable Development Zone (Buffer Zone). As part of our long-term Management Plan, we are developing three basic zones:
Zone 1--Special Protection and Wilderness: no tourism allowed
Zone 2—Tourism Recreation: safari game drives, walking safaris, mountain biking, boating, fishing, birdwatching, caving, and a few other low-impact activities will be allowed. A road network and a few temporary facilities will be the only infrastructure developments in this zone.
Zone 3—Tourism Lodging: construction of permanent overnight tourist accommodations such as lodges, as well as restaurants and swimming pools, will be allowed after a full review and approval.
Once Mozambique’s Ministry of Tourism has approved our zoning plan, we will publish a list of available concessions. Permits will be awarded in a transparent, competitive basis. Some will automatically go to local communities near the park.
For updates on available concessions, check back here occasionally or subscribe to our eNewsletter.
