Girassol Chitengo Tourist Camp

The Ministry of Tourism of Mozambique (MITUR) and the Gorongosa Restoration Project (GRP) are pleased to announce that the Visabeira Group - operator of the Girassol hotels in Mozambique and Angola - has been selected to manage the Tourist Camp of Chitengo - the largest Tourism facility inside Gorongosa National Park.

International collaboration on Gorongosa Mountain

During August 2011, researchers from the Field Museum of Natural History (FMNH) (Chicago, USA) combined efforts with the University Eduardo Mondlane (Maputo, Mozambique) and the scientific department of Parque Nacional da Gorongosa to conduct surveys of birds, mammals, and their parasites on Gorongosa Mountain.

No âmbito da restauração do Parque Nacional da Gorongosa (PNG) e da responsabilidade social do Projecto de Restauração da Gorongosa para a melhoria do nível de vida das comunidades à sua volta, o PNG, em parceria com o Ministério de Educação de Portugal, iniciou em Junho último a distribuição de diversos materiais escolares em algumas escolas com o objectivo de incentivar maior gosto na mediação e aprendizagem dos mais variados conteúdos curriculares.
